Sweet Harmonies

Exciting news! I will be teaching a class called “Sweet Harmonies” for The Biz’s next session. I’ve been planning this class for a couple months and I am excited to finally begin.

Why take this class? One thing I have noticed is that many people are not able to hear or understand the intricacies of music until it is pointed out to them. Many everyday music listeners only “hear” the melody of songs. I have done some music engineering and production work and I can tell you that most listeners prefer to have all of the other noise, even if they don’t notice it. Back to the question: Why take this class? To develop an ear for adding all the other noise (because the audience prefers it, even if they don’t understand it) and to develop an ear for appreciating such intricacies of music.

Some may look at this class and think “Ah, I know how to hold my own and harmonize.” Excellent! This class will be more of a playground for you to explore and hone in on those skills. You can also help the others who feel like their brains are doing backflips. The more voices we have, the easier it is to learn and the more interesting the activities can become. I can almost guarantee that you have never done many of the activities that we will be doing. So, don’t be fooled, it won’t be a walk in the park but it will be interesting.

This class is twice a week for two weeks and will happen twice during this next session! April 5, 7, 12, and 14 will be the first class and May 17, 19, 24, and 16 will be the second. You can do either or both. The recommended ages are 7-12, but those older than 12 are more than welcome to join in on the fun!
